On Monday, 2 December 2024, we celebrated our Grade R leaners.
After completing a school readiness assessment from the Department of Education of Gauteng, the learners are declared school ready, and this must be celebrated!
We call the ceremony a Commencement ceremony as the children are commencing to primary school.
Our ceremony was held at Doxa Deo Meyersdal and was filled with love, fun and laughter.
Dieter Botha opened the ceremony with scripture and prayer. Ephesians 2 says we are alive with Christ!
Marisa van der Merwe from MiniChess brought a message that fit right in with our theme: Chess!
Marisa talked to the 21st century parents about our fast-changing world. God gives all humans capacity and parents need to develop those human skills needed for the future. We were born for a time such as this.
Teacher Bernice coached the Grade R learners to perform 2 songs and 2 poems for the audience. And boy, did they deliver! The poems were kept a secret from all parents and staff…and everybody really enjoyed the performance.
Every child had to tell the audience what they want to become when they are grown up:
· Markus Dembskey – A bookmaker
· Jesse Koch – A sea monster
· Nate Mpesi – A fireman
· Hailey-Ann Kitching – A doctor
· Isabella Katsapas – A doctor
· Milan Strydom – A teacher
Future Alberton - we've got you sorted!
A big congratulations to all our Grade R parents.
You have the right to feel extremely proud of your children.
When you enrolled them at Train Kids you promised to help us train them up in the way they should go. Now, we know God’s promise in Proverbs 22:6 stands firm: for when they are old, they will not depart from that way.
We all blessed the children with Numbers 6:24 and send them on their way to big school with this quote by Irving Chernev, a Russian American chess player and author:
“Every chess master was once a beginner.”
